1 Welcome to Mid-Carolina 8th Grade IGP Night

2 Individual Graduation Plan
Create a plan for your high school career with your school counselor!! POS (Program of Study) listing all available courses with descriptions will be available soon from District Office.

3 To graduate, you need 24 credits!
1 Computer Science 1 PE or Army ROTC 1 unit of modern language or career and technology elective 7 Electives 4 English 4 Math 3 Natural Science ½ Economics ½ American Government 1 US History 1 other Social Studies

4 Additional Requirements
Besides 24 credits, students also need to: Pass (EOC) exams in English I, Biology, Algebra I and US History.

5 Block Scheduling Allows for 8 credits per year
total of 32 possible credit for all 4 years. Promotion to 10th grade requirements: 1 English Credit 1 Math Credit 4 Additional Credits

6 Mid-Carolina provides many support services for your student's success.
We provide math and language labs. Provide extra help for students before and after school, as well as during the daily advisory period (“Connections”) 4 weeks into your 9th grader’s year, the high school will have a student/parent orientation to see how the first four weeks have gone and answer any questions that arise once they have experienced the high school environment.

7 Keep up to date…

8 Parents can… Help your student define their interests, abilities and goals. Attend IGP meetings and teacher conferences (by appointment). Make school a priority. Set high standards for regular attendance and completing work on time, accurately and completely.

9 January 2016 Meetings by appointment with Ms. Coffman and Ms. Dixon for all 8th grade students and parents Meetings last approximately 25 minutes Student and at least one guardian must be present If you forget to reschedule and cannot attend, we will still meet with your child and send the IGP home for review and signature.

Speak to a counselor tonight or call the main office at to get your appointment time! *Rescheduling is possible but there are no evening appointments available!

11 Availability School Hours: 8:00am – 3:00pm: Monday – Friday
No After school hours available IGP meetings will take place with the student if you are unable to attend. A copy of the IGP will be sent home with the student to be reviewed by the parent. SIGN and RETURN!
