ECHS – Benchmark 1 – Target Population
For admissions, the ECHS shall use either a performance-blind, open-access lottery system that encourages and considers applications from all students (all students have an equal opportunity for acceptance, regardless of background or academic performance) or a weighted lottery that favors students who are at risk or who are part of the targeted subpopulations for the ECHS.

ECHS Benchmark 4 – Curriculum and Support

ECHS Benchmark 5: Academic Rigor and Readiness

Applications for academic school year will begin during the spring 2018 semester. At that time all campuses must designate the implementation model they will be following and the school design on the new application. PEIMS data will be utilized for benchmarks beginning with next year’s 9th grade cohort (current 8th graders). Recommendation: All BISD high schools will move from a comprehensive ECHS wall to wall model to a school within a school model beginning fall 2018.
