We Are Kyrene Established in 1888
Enrollment of approximately 17,000 students 25 schools in Chandler, Tempe, Ahwatukee, Guadalupe and the Gila River Indian Reservation, including: 6 middle schools 19 elementary schools Expanding preschool options 17 Kyrene schools have earned “A+ School of Excellence” designation from Arizona Educational Foundation

District-wide Audit In October 2016, initiated a District-wide audit
Audit included a thorough review of District systems of teaching and learning Audit used a pre-determined set of standards and indicators of quality It included: Review of 700 documents 180 interviews with board members, District leadership, staff 25 focus groups 25 school visits 230 classroom visits 429 responses to an online survey

Audit Recommendations
1. Develop a multi-year strategic plan and identify a vision and goals for the Kyrene School District that are compelling and will guide the alignment of district decisions, actions, and improvement initiatives to close the gaps in student achievement. 2. Develop and implement a curriculum management plan to provide system-wide direction for design, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of the curriculum. 3. Develop and implement a plan for assessment that will provide meaningful data for decision-making and support improved student achievement.

Audit Recommendations
4. Design and implement a professional development process focused on effective instructional strategies associated with high levels of student achievement. 5. Design and implement a curriculum-driven budget development process that emphasizes cost-benefit analysis that links resources to instructional priorities. 6. Develop a policy manual that directs a sound system of curriculum management and control. 7. Revise, adopt, and implement a table of organization and job descriptions that provide for control of district functions and lead to intended student outcomes.
