CONFIGURATION Accomplished Layouts based on: - Parameters generated from approved? physics functional and physical requirements - Equipment components were design developed based on above parameters In progress: - Hard study of details that meet the functional and physical interfaces Required: - More interaction on defining physical interface parameters with the facility and services - More definition on the experiment requirements (a list of possible immediate and future experiments) - Decision on the center for configuration control 2/17/2019 Edgar L. Black/IIT

SPECIFICS: Hydrogen absorber module
Conceptualized the modular construction to facilitate the experiments operations In progress- Investigating feasibility of constructing the modules with a combined flexibility and safety characteristics Required- Acceptance and implementation of modular operability. - Facility requirements for: Mobility, Connections flexibility, Safety - RF/Hydrogen modules physical and functional interfaces definition Next – Detail vacuum double wall vessels design and interfaces 2/17/2019 Edgar L. Black/IIT

INNER MODULE INTEGRATION
Accomplished design that meets RAL’s safety containment requirements. In progress – detail feasibility studies of components fabrication and assembly. Studies on the as designed components functional: Structural integrity capabilities, Fluids dynamics and Heat transfer characteristics Required – coupling coils design and structural support interface specifications. RAL Safety recommendation of standards for interfaces of: Fasteners, cryogenic gas and liquid fluid connections, electrical, instrumentation etc. 2/17/2019 Edgar L. Black/IIT

INNER MODULE INTEGRATION (CONTINUED)
Required Discussions on: removable windows or removable absorbers assemblies Bolted or non bolted absorber windows Vertical or side cryo connections Next – verify coupling coil structural support and interface from magneto dynamics and physical specifications . - design the coils cold mass support - fabricate, measure and test the absorber windows new design 2/17/2019 Edgar L. Black/IIT

COST AND TIME SCHEDULE Accomplished- preliminary cost and schedule studies supported by US vendors estimates on earlier absorber designs (costs of magnet coils from M. Green). In progress – similar effort on current design plus in house estimates from on going activities Required – a study of the components fabrication, partial shipping, sub assembling, stage testing, final assembling, retesting, packing, final shipping and installation -Need decision on: ho, where and when, will the various components be fabricated, tested and assembled prior to their final installation. 2/17/2019 Edgar L. Black/IIT
7
Final note The preliminary costs and schedules, for the liquid hydrogen absorber only, were based on the following: - KEK fabricate the absorber heat exchanger associated piping connections and absorber vacuum chamber. - NIU/IIT fabricate outer containment vessel, supports, windows for vacuum and absorber, - LBNL/Oxford provide the coupling coils with coils support structures. 2/17/2019 Edgar L. Black/IIT
