2 Background In 1993, Department of Fisheries and Oceans divested itself of operation responsibilities for small craft harbours In 1998, Delta established the Ladner Harbour Authority, entered into a lease agreement with the Federal Government to lease the Ladner Harbour boat basin and uplands

3 General Information Ladner Harbour Boat Basin is a small craft harbour owned by the Federal Government and managed by Delta through the Ladner Harbour Authority Delta recently renewed a five year lease with the Federal Government for $1.00 per annum, plus applicable taxes Lease contains, three, five year renewal terms

4 Boat Basin Features Three main floats with berthage for approximately 80 vessels Concrete dock with loading crane Separate float for pump out station Net shed building with 16 rental lockers Open net repair compound for commercial use Environment shed for garbage & recycling Harbour Masters residence, office and meeting room

8 Ladner Fisher’s Committee
The Ladner Harbour Authority has an advisory of seven; called the Ladner Fishers Committee The board is made up of local fisherman who currently have a boat moored in the boat basin and/or retired fisherman from Delta. The board makes recommendations with regards to all operating policies and procedures for the harbor and oversees the annual operating and capital budget. Members are voted in at the Annual General Meeting for a two year term. The board meets 3 – 4 times per year. Staff attend meetings and are responsible for all agendas, minutes and follow-up actions.

10 Harbour Master Delta contributes to wages for a full-time, live-in Harbour Master Delta and Harbour Master operate under a signed contract Delta owns the Harbour Masters’ residence; the Harbour Authority maintains it

11 Harbour Master Duties Day to day maintenance and operations of the boat basin Invoicing/collection of all moorage fees Moorage reservations, short and long term Daily checks to Wellington Point, Spot of the Water and Ferry Road boat launches On-site safety and supervision

Upgraded fire suppression system on docks Upgraded lighting systems in net shed & on docks Upgraded electrical system on docks

13 2018 Capital Projects Replacement of wharf head planking on A & C docks Safety ladder replacement New washroom building

14 Future Projects Replace deck planking on the pump out dock
Piling replacement on C dock Dredging to control sediment buildup at the entrance to C dock Replacement of loading dock

15 Five Year Plan Staff will work closely with Small Craft Harbours on the development of a five year plan for the boat basin Infrastructure renewal Dredging Viability with the Fishing Industry Uplands renewal/development
