WHAT IS ANXIETY ANXIETY- IS THE CONDITION OF FEELING UNEASY, OR WORRIED ABOUT WHAT MAY HAPPEN.

SYMPTOMS OF ANXIETY FEELINGS OF FEAR OR DREAD.
PERSPIRATION, TREMBLING, RESTLESSNESS, OR MUSCLE TENSION. RAPID HEART RATE, LIGHTHEADEDNESS, OR SHORTNESS OF BREATH.

MANAGING ANXIETY -MANAGING ANXIETY CAN BE THE SAME AS MANAGING STRESS.
THE SAME TECHNIQUES ARE USED: - REDIRECTING YOUR ENERGY - DO RELAXATION EXERCISES - ENGAGE IN PHYSICAL ACTIVITY - GET SUPPORT FROM FAMILY AND FRIENDS ALCOHOL AND DRUGS GIVE A PERSON A FALSE SENSE OF RELAXATION, THEREFORE CAUSING MORE HEALTH PROBLEMS IN THE FUTURE.

WHAT IS DEPRESSION? DEPRESSION- IS A PROLONGED FEELING OF HELPLESSNESS, HOPELESSNESS, AND SADNESS. AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER EVERYONE EXPERIENCES A SAD MOOD WHICH MAY LAST A FEW DAYS, BUT THIS IS A NORMAL, NATURAL FEELING. IT IS NOT DEPRESSION.

HOW TO MANAGE DEPRESSION
THESE FEELINGS CAN BE MANAGED BY: -WRITING IN A JOURNAL -DRAW, DANCE OR ENGAGE IN SOME OTHER CREATIVE ACTIVITY. TALK ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS DO SOMETHING NICE FOR SOMEONE ELSE.

THERE ARE 2 TYPES OF DEPRESSION
MILD DEPRESSION-(ADJUSTMENT DISORDER THIS IS A RESPONSE TO A STRESSFUL EVENT, SUCH AS A DEATH OF A FRIEND. H MAJOR DEPRESSION- THIS IS MEDICAL CONDITION WHICH REQUIRES TREATMENT. - IT IS MORE SEVERE AND LASTS LONGER THAN REACTIVE DEPRESSION.

SYMPTOMS OF TEEN DEPRESSION
- ALTHOUGH DEPRESSION IS COMMON AMONG TEENAGERS, ITS SYMPTOMS CAN GO UNNOTICED. - THEY USUALLY DON’T ACT SAD OR SEEM DIFFERENT TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS.

SYMPTOMS INCLUDE IRRITABLE AND RESTLESS MOOD WITHDRAWL FROM FRIENDS AND ACTIVITIES THAT WERE PREVIOUSLY IMPORTANT OR ENJOYABLE A CHANGE IN APPETITE OR WEIGHT FEELINGS OF GUILT OR WORTHLESSNESS A SENSE OF HOPELESSNESS - SEEK HELP IF SEVERAL SYMPTOMS ARE EXPERIENCED OVER A PERIOD OF TIME.

GETTING HELP FOR ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION
- MILD FORMS OF ANXIETY CAN BE TREATED BY TALKING WITH SUPPORTIVE PEOPLE, GETTING MORE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY, OR VOLUNTEERING. TALK TO A PARENT OR OTHER TRUSTED ADULT. SEEK HELP FROM A COUNSELOR, SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST, OR OTHER HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL.
