1 Mrs. Hake’s Friday, October 26 edition CLASSROOM news Week in Review: Sneak Preview This week our letters were L and U. We are really moving along in our letter studies! We also learned all about the four seasons. We wrote what season we like best to make into a class book and did many of center activities focused on seasons. We sorted clothes by seasons, complete two piece leaf puzzles, used leaves to fill tens frames to match a number and so much more. We loved making leaf pictures, trying a wind experiment, and exploring real fall items Theme for the Week: Vampires, witches, pirates and all things Halloween Letters of the Week: V and W Science/Social Studies: Holidays Math: Number7 Rainbow Words: is/have Remember: Show and Tell on Friday bring in an item that begins with one of our letters. Upcoming Events: . October 31 – Halloween Parties November 1 – Conferences (4:00-7:00) November 6 – Conferences (4:00-7:00) November 7 – PIE Meeting 9:30 November 9 – Pretzel Money Due November 13 – Picture Retakes Fall Fun! Count leaves you have raked before you jump in! Sort leaves by color, size, type. Discuss shapes when looking at leaves. Take advantage of any nice days and play outside – work on skipping! You received information with your child’s username and password for our new grade book program. You will have online access to your child’s grade card. The grade cards will not be printed and sent home. Please use this report card as a way to help guide your practice with your child. Any questions about the report card can be addressed at our upcoming conference. Write numbers. We have introduced 1-6. Play “I Spy” in the car look for numbers and discuss place value. Pattern with leaves, food, colors… Cutting: practice cutting out different shapes and saying what the shape is. Then make a picture or pattern Sort clothes by seasons Sound out to write words –writing only the sounds you hear! Practice sight words – try writing them with different school tools like markers, crayons, pens etc., write them in shaving cream, highlight them in junk mail Keep Reading! REMINDER: Our classroom Halloween Party will be on Wednesday, October 31st at 2:00 students will go to recess and participate in regular classroom activities before the party. No weapons (swords, guns, etc.) No face paint Nothing that obstructs the students’ ability to walk, sit, talk, use the restroom independently, and/or play.
