Doug – Thanks to the US DOJ, my office was awarded the DOJ Anti-Gang Strategy Grant where we provide truancy intervention efforts through the PACT program. This program holds accountable the parents of the most chronic students in the district. In addition, the funding provides the Gang Op-Out program where former gang members can go through a vetted process to op-out of the local gang injunctions. Tracy – In addition, we are using state CALGRIP funding to provide Prevention, Focused Prevention, Intervention, and Suppression. The project goal is to reduce gang membership and gang victimization among at-risk female youth ages within Long Beach who have been trafficked by gang members. City Council adopted the My Brother's Keeper Community Challenge on 1/20/15. The Mayor will invite a MBK Task Force made up of City, school district, and community leaders to develop a MBK local action plan as prescribed by the Whitehouse.
