Where is it found? One of the few grasses to be found in the temperate portions of all five continents Here in the United States it is found in the northern half. It is locally common in the Illinois wetlands.

Uses Usually seeded on poorly drained soil and areas subject to flooding and silting. Used to protect soil from erosion. It is commonly used along stream channel banks and around farm ponds.

Seed The color is gray to olive brown.
It is long with and pointed at the base. Has two hairy bristles at the base. 44-48 Pounds of seed per bushel. 533,000 Seeds per pound Seed rating 6-8 lbs. per acre.
