2 Fig 1 Notched box and whisker plots of LOS by study groups. Control group A comprised patients who were admitted in the 4 months prior to implementation of the Sunday physiotherapy intervention program (June–September 2009). Control group B comprised patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty, who were admitted in the same months as the Sunday physiotherapy group in the preceding year (October 2008–January 2009). In each notched box and whisker plot, the lower and upper edges of the box indicate the 25th and 75th percentiles; the horizontal line inside the box indicates the median LOS; the endpoints of the notch define the CI of the median; and the whiskers indicate either a distance of 1.5 times the interquartile range from the box edges or the minimum and maximum values (whichever distance is smaller). The circles represent outliers. The nonoverlapping notches indicate that the medians differ between the Sunday Physiotherapy and control groups.
