6 March 17 [Tuesday] Lesson 20 Objective(s): SWBAT: develop expressions involving multiplication and division from real-world problems and evaluate these expressions for given values. (6.EE.A.2).

7 Page 89: Example 1 6 9 12 3B or 3(B) or 3B
If B = 25, then 3B = 3 25 = 75 apples. a ÷ 3 bags are needed. If there are 1 or 2 apples left over, an extra bag will be needed (although not full). 600 apples ÷ 3 apples per bag = bags Part (d) gives the # of apples and asks for the # of bags. We divide the # of apples by 3. Part (b) gives the # of bags and asks for the # of apples. We multiply the # of bags by 3.

8 Classwork: page 90 (5 mins)
Do page 90 (all) Use your notes (pg. 89) Work by self, or with person next to you

9 Classwork: page 90 0.05 0.10 ( ) 0.15 ( ) 0.20 ( ) 0.50 ( 0.05 x 10) 2.50 (0.05 x 50) 5.00 (0.05 x 100 ) 0.05C or 0.05C

12 Classwork: page 90 $4.50 ÷ 0.05 = 90 cans 0.05 0.10 0.15 0.20 0.50
2.50 5.00 0.05C or 0.05C $4.50 ÷ = 90 cans

13 Classwork: page 90 0.05 0.10 0.15 0.20 0.50 2.50 5.00 0.05C or 0.05C Part (d) gives the amount of money and asks for the # of cans. We divided the amount of money by 0.05. Part (c) gives the # of cans and asks for the amount of money. We multiply the # of cans by 0.05.

14 Classwork: page 91 Do page 91 (all) Use your notes (pg. 89)
Work by self, or with person next to you 10 minutes to complete this Page 92 (Extra Credit)

15 Classwork: page 91 2. 50 (1) 2. 50 (2) = 5. 00 2. 50 (3) = 7. 50
2. 50 (4) = 2. 50 (5) = 2. 50 (10) = 2. 50 (30) = 2.50R or 2.50R

16 Classwork: page 91 If R =60, then 2.50R = 2.5060 = $150.00.
2.50R or 2.50R If R =60, then 2.50R = 2.5060 = $ ÷ = The commuter took 70 trips. Part (d) gives the amount of money and asks for the # of rides. We divided the amount of money by the cost of each ride ($2.50). Part (c) gives the # of rides and asks for the amount of money. We multiply the # of rides by $2.50.
