Welcome to iManager Name: Kim Monti Project Title: iManager Format: Native App synchs with a web application Platform: iPhone. Future iterations will accommodate Blackberry & Android
2
Project Description The iManager iPhone application was created to allow students in one of NOVA’s online Business Management classes to review and respond to established case studies that demonstrate business management theory in practice. In their course, students will then be instructed to use the iManager application to build their own case studies using their mobile devices to generate character narratives and questions for their classmates. The student generated case studies will be available for review and response in a case study repository. The iManager application will synchronize student responses and student generated content to the web-hosted iManager repository.
3
Benefits of iManager Included to augment current course
Allows asynchronous communication, collaboration Persistent by hosting repository of cases on the web for later reference/use Deeper learning – provides scaffolding and requires learners to fully immerse themselves in content by presenting their own case narratives.

Screen Title: iManager
Interaction Description: This screen introduces the application to the user and gives the user the option to: - View established case studies, which provides scaffolding for students about how they can build their own case studies, - Build their own case study, based on predetermined topic areas covered in the Business Management course, or - Access the web-hosted repository of student generated cases, where students can view classmates cases, and respond to the case-related questions. Navigation: Students will tap on the menu items to access the various areas available in iManager.

The construction of these cases will help students conceptualize how they can build their own cases for a future iManager assignment. Review these case studies to familiarize yourself with iManager. For each topic, select a case study, review the scenario with the chosen characters, then answer questions from the manager's perspective. Navigation: Continued from Home screen.

Students can view additional information about each character involved in this case study by tapping their names. For this case, the background video provides the following information: The ACME company is a government contractor. They have multiple multi-million dollar contracts with DOE, with the largest contract coming to a close very soon. ACME is awaiting to hear if they have been awarded more lucrative contracts with DOE that will allow them to continue work on a major multi-year project. This project currently carries the salary for 12 staff at ACME. View the video for information about the ACME company. Tap the name below for information about each character’s role in this case. Navigation: Continued from Case Studies Screen.

Screen Title: Character Info, CEO
Interaction Description: This screen provides more information about the CEO character in this case. It introduces new media (audio clip) to provide the narrative for the character, which students can also use in their case studies. For this character, the audio clip provides the following information: Alice is very concerned that billing on the current DOE contract has been light over the last several months. She is afraid that this will be taken into consideration as DOE awards new multi-year contracts, which may mean that ACME's award will be far less than anticipated. In several recent project management meetings, she has made comments that if billing does not increase over the last few months of the contract, current PM positions will be in jeopardy. Listen to the audio clip about ACME’s CEO Alice. Navigation: Continued from Sample Case Study screen.

For this character, the slide show and audio clip provides the following information: Rose is a Team Lead on the main DOE contract. Rose advises the Project Management team to ensure that they allocate time to the DOE project on their time sheets, even if they have not done any work on the project in the past month. Watch the slide show and listen to the audio clip about ACME’s Project Manager, Rose. Navigation: Continued from Sample Case Study screen.
