SIS Background:
Collaboration with UTFAB began in 2004
ACNS, Information Systems, Enrollment & Access
Goal to update student system infrastructure
Project includes hardware, software and staff
Unique partnership involving many systems
ARIES – The Student Information System, Document Imaging, Workflow, Degree Audit Reporting, Course Roadmaps, Others…
Web Portal Layers
ARIESweb – Faculty and Staff self-service
RAMweb and RamRecords – Student and former student self-service
Mobile – newest component
This project and collaboration we have is a big deal and your support is critical. This reaches far more broadly than you might think.
Student support provided impetus for SIS
SIS scope
Very large infrastructure, not like a building you see everyday but a foundational part of any higher education institution.
Includes hardware, software and staffing
There are a number of systems and databases included.
Many exchanges of data with other systems,
Some data interfaces are with external gourps such as the US Dept of Ed and the state dept of ed.
Included in the SIS are quite a few specialized systems and software.
SSN not used as Student PID
Closer to 24 x 7 access to RAMweb services
New web registration system
Degree Audit (GUIDE) on the web
Improved/integrated advising support for faculty and students
Fewer places to maintain personal data
Example - addresses integrated into one system

State compliance: removal of lawful presence section of RAMweb
Federal and State compliance: Health Insurance component
University policy compliance: Repeat/Delete credit increase

Plan for production December 3; final testing now
Customer base: Students! Advisors, faculty, staff
RAMweb and ARIESweb presence
Course section planning using prior enrollment and waitlist data
Complex solution: requires coupling CSU code with vendor product for seamless registration
CSU resources have finalized product with absence of UTFAB resource
Much input and positive feedback from Advisors and Students
Long project, significant effort and testing has been done
