6 The Truth About Humidification Delivery
Many humidifier manufacturers list output capacity in gallons per day (GPD), or the amount of moisture they can deliver in a 24-hour period while the furnace is running (plenum temp 120F-140F). But how do you know which ones really work and if a home is getting enough moisture? Click For Next Slide Comparing humidification delivery is a great place to start.

7 The Truth About Humidification Delivery
Typically, the GPD claim is based on a home’s heating equipment running 100% of the time, for 24 hours a day at 120˚F. Since evaporative humidifiers are delivering 100% of this humidity output only when the furnace is running (and no furnace runs full-time), they rarely deliver more than 1-gallon of humidified air for every FOUR gallons they use. In other words, for every 1 gallon humidified, 3 gallons are being wasted down the drain! Click For Next Slide

8 The Truth About Humidification Delivery
Added to this are portable humidifiers that only humidify in the room which they are located, not the whole house. They also need to be constantly re-filled with water, which can be a hassle. TrueSTEAM™ offers the most reliable, efficient levels of moisture because of its near 1:1 humidification delivery rate, regardless of equipment operation. Click For Next Slide

9 The Truth About Evaporative
Another factor limiting today’s evaporative humidifier is that HVAC equipment is changing. Dealers are selling more: High efficiency % furnaces Heat pumps Variable speed Equipment changes negatively impact evaporative humidifier performance. Plenum Temps Airflow + = GPD OUTPUT Click For Next Slide

10 The Truth About Evaporative
Because equipment is running less and at lower temperatures, a capacity rating of 18 GPD on the box is closer to 6 GPD actual output delivery. Click For Next Slide

11 The Truth About Evaporative
Plus, for every gallon evaporated, up to 3 gallons is wasted down the drain, which can increase homeowner water bills and is not an eco-friendly option. What does this mean over a 5-month heating season? See below… Humidity Water waste down drain Per Day 4 12 Per Week 28 84 2 Per Month 112 336 8 Per 5 month Heating Season 560 1680 40 Click For Next Slide

12 So why are evaporative so popular?
Today’s evaporative humidifiers are flexible… High familiarity with contractors. 30+ year old technology. Have high reliability Can be installed at a much lower cost than steam Install quickly …but bypass flow through humidifiers also experience issues Reduced output due to equipment changes Require large sections of available ducting and open space to install Require the heat to be on in order to deliver humidity Click For Next Slide Reduced Output Leads to Callbacks

13 The Truth About Last-Generation Steam
GREAT PERFORMANCE Today’s steam humidifiers offer great benefits… More output Humidity on demand – when you need it by activating equipment Reduced water consumption POOR RELIABILITY Steam units have had reliability issues with sticking floats, burning heating elements and difficult maintenance Can be difficult to install - leaves many opportunities on the table Click For Next Slide

15 Revolutionizing Steam Humidification
The world of heating and cooling equipment is vastly different today than it was even a few years ago, with the trend towards high-efficiency, variable speed, dual-fuel and heat pump systems. Because of how these systems operate, yesterday's humidifiers often fail to deliver the humidification that homeowners desire. You told us that you needed a humidification system that operated independently of equipment. Click For Next Slide

16 Breakthrough Technology
TrueSTEAM™ takes the best features from current steam humidifiers with their efficiency, performance and decreased water consumption, and combines it with the ease of installation, reliability and value of flow-through humidifiers. TrueSTEAM is different from others because it operates independent of equipment operation. And, with its near 1:1 humidification delivery rate, TrueSTEAM delivers the right amount of humidification to keep your customers satisfied. Click For Next Slide

17 TrueSTEAM™ Features & Benefits
Non-Stick Heating Element – Made of Incoloy 600 – a non-stick material that inhibits material build-up. Fail-Safe Water Sensing – Multiple sensors sit in a separate compartment to accurately monitor water levels. Application Flexibility – Steam can be delivered up to 20 ft away from the humidifier accessing attics, crawl spaces, tight closets, etc. Common-Sense Interface – LEDs indicate operating status and provide feedback for installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. 19 Choice of Control Options
TrueSTEAM™ comes with a control option to fit virtually every application and budget. Choose from the robust all-in-one control of the VisionPRO IAQ, the unique integrated control of the TrueIAQ Digital Control or the easy to use H8908 manual humidity control. The next slide will go through the features of each control. Click For Next Slide

20 Honeywell Humidifier Controls
All-in-one control Easy 3-Wire Installation Easy to install humidity control Works with any whole-house humidifier Calculates dew point Prevents condensation from forming on windows VisionPRO® IAQ, Total Home Comfort System TrueIAQ® Digital IAQ Control VisionPRO® IAQ but without the temperature control Integrated auto-control of humidifiers, dehumidifiers, ventilators, and/or bath fans Digital interface with backlit display Includes outdoor temp and humidity sensing The H1008 humidity control provides additional comfort by automatically adjust the humidity level based on indoor temperature and humidity, as well as the measured or inferred outdoor temperature and the frost factor dial setting of the control itself. The frost factor control maximizes RH levels in the home while allowing for variations in furnace size, window insulation and average daily climate temperature. The H1008 requires an initial adjustment period of 2 days. After installation, the contractor should set the control to frost factor “5” and observe for either too much or too little humidity. If too much, the dial setting should be raised ‘1’. Down ‘1’ if too little. Once the frost factor dial is at the desired setting, the H1008 takes over and makes further adjustments automatically as temperatures fluctuate. H8908 The levels of humidification output in both the steam and evaporative Honeywell whole-house humidifiers are controlled by humidistat controls. These controls monitor the relative humidity and activate the humidifier accordingly. The H8908 is a wall or duct-mounted humidistat for manually controlling low-voltage humidifiers or dehumidifiers. When initially installed, the contractor must choose a dial-setting based on the Relative Humidity/Outdoor Temperature scale on the humidity dial. To maximize humidity levels while minimizing excess condensation in the home, the dial should initially be at the Humidity Setting indicated for the applicable outdoor temperature listed on the control. As outdoor temperature drops, the setting should be lowered 3% to accommodate for the effects of dewpoint, such as moisture or ice on windows. Dewpoint is the temperature at which air is saturated with water vapor. As air temperature cools beyond that point, water vapor condenses to liquid water. Inversely, increasing the setting 3% will raise the RH level accordingly. It will generally take 24 hours for dewpoint effects to clear up. If the condition persists for longer than that, the humidistat should be set to the lowest setting to turn off the humidifier. Ventilating the home will also help remove excess moisture.
