Scale Scale Description 4 Through independent work beyond what was taught in class, students could (examples include, but are not limited to): research current and past earth and sun conditions. investigate causes and possible solutions for global climate change. compare and contrast the patterns in the organization and distribution of matter in the sun, earth, moon system. compare and contrast different solar events and their impact on earth. 3 understand how the motions of the sun, stars and planets as observed from Earth relate to the motions of the Earth and other planets in space. understand how the movement and position of Earth influences life on Earth. be able to differentiate between astronomy and astrology. 2 determine the meaning of symbols, key terms, and other astronomy specific words and phrases relating to the Earth, Sun and Moon illustrate the patterns of distribution of matter in the sun, earth, moon system. list the physical properties of the Earth, Sun and Moon. describe the key parts of the Earth, Sun and Moon System 1 show the patterns of distribution of matter in the sun, earth, moon system. select from a list the physical properties of the sun, earth and moon. list the key parts of the structure of earth, sun and moon. 4 You must finish what is inside the red box today!

5 distance of the Planets

6 Size of the Planets

7 Size of the Planets

8 Things While Outside Questions to answer in your science journal
Please pay attention Can you see the sun as a circle? Can you see other planets as a circle Can you see the other planets at all? If you were to randomly appear in our solar system, would it be on a planet? Given that there is very little material between the planets, what do you conclude about the nature of our solar system? Is this spacing and planet size distribution what you expected when you first began thinking about this lab? Why or why not? Bring your science journal Don’t spend the entire time on your phone Try your best to listen Keep in mind, this is only 1 direction of our solar system, it actually continues in the other direction as well (each orbit is a full circle)

9 Now… Continue on with number 4 in your lab
Due on Friday at midnight To do questions 5 and 6 If you wait until the end, you wont finish You need to find the conversion factor Instructions are on MrHyatt.rocks It’s easy after that
