Meditation Matthew 2:1-2, 10-12 In the time of King Herod, after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, asking [King Herod], “Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews? For we observed his star at its rising, and have come to pay him homage.”…When they saw that the star had stopped, they were overwhelmed with joy.
4
On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother; and they knelt down and paid him homage. Then, opening their treasure chests, they offered him gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

*Opening Prayer O Lord of Light, we want to be like the magi -- wise ones who willingly traveled wherever they had to go to bring You gifts and worship You with wholeness of heart. We want to be like John the Baptist and turn from our brokenness,
25
hard headedness, and hard heartedness, while at the same time, call others to join us in dedicating our lives to You and Your way of love. We want to stop pretending that everything is okay with us, our families and our world and be honest.
26
There are so many things we want to do right this time, this New Year
