• Followed Freud • people are driven by a need to overcome inferiority from childhood. • Inferiority complex - feelings of inadequacy & insecurity. • Can cause us to strive to be better.

• Childhood experience affects personality.
• Children develop feelings of insecurity called basic anxiety, when parents treat them harshly or coldly. • Contrasting Freud, consistent love could change that childhood experience.
