2. Before the Constitution...came the Articles
After gaining independence from England, a country that made use of a unitary system of government in the form of a monarchy, the founders were determined to avoid giving significant power to the central government. They preferred to give most of the powers of government to the individual states. This was the basis behind The Articles of Confederation, America's first national system of government.

11. DIY U.S. Constitution
Using the notes you've gathered on each of the twenty-seven amendments of The Constitution, you will paraphrase and illustrate each one using parchment stationary and colored pencils. 
Your paraphrase of each amendment should clearly state what each amendment declares in language that is easily understandable by anyone who would read it. You also need to include an illustration for each amendment that relates to the meaning of the amendment.
When you have finished you will staple along the top of your constitution  in three places so that you can flip each page up.
Your grade will be determined by the accuracy of your paraphrases, whether or not you have provided relevant illustrations for each amendment, and the neatness of your completed Constitution.
You will be using this Constitution throughout the remainder of the semester, so take pride in its crafting and bring it with you to all future classes.
