Theme Life has its ups and downs, but the Christian can remain constantly pleased with life…this is Christian joy. Blessed – more than happy!!

A. Spiritual Poverty (Mt. 5:3) 1. only when a person sees how empty of spiritual value he really is will he turn to Christ. 2. humble – sensing a need Need (something is missing)

B. Mourning (Mt. 5:4) 1. Grieve over their sins 2. Eventually find comfort in salvation Need (something is missing) Sin (recognize that you’re a sinner)

D. Spiritual Hunger (Mt. 5:6) 1. One evidence of salvation is an ever-growing desire for the things of God. 2. As the believer’s appetite grows, Christ gives nourishment thru His Word, prayer & fellowship. Need (something is missing) Sin (recognize that you’re a sinner) Submit (to God’s will/Lordship) SALVATION Hunger (growth in Christ)

A. Mercy (Mt. 5:7) 1. The Lord has saved us, that is ultimate mercy. 2. Not to show mercy in our dealings with others makes us a contradiction to God. Attitude

B. Purity (Mt. 5:8) 1. Purity is freedom from sin. 2. If the heart is pure, so will be all that comes from it. 3. The reward - see God face to face. Attitude  Actions
