1 6.1 | Quick Reads

2 STEP 1 – LEARN Alternative Story Formats, or Quick Reads, help tell the story in a visual and fun way. Quick Reads require less writing, but just as much research.

3 THE GOALS . To make every page in the yearbook interesting to as many people as possible. To include as many people as possible in a meaningful way on every spread.

These quick-read formats are an easy way for readers to get information without investing several minutes to read a full-length story. Consider a variety of quick read formats to convey facts, figures and feelings in a non-story style. They can be interactive formats or chronologies. 13 HOW COULD YOU ADAPT THESE IDEAS?
All great ideas come from adaptations of other ideas. Have students look at the examples on this slide and answer the following questions: Which is your favorite Quick Read? Are there any specific areas of one of these examples that you especially like? How could you adapt one of these for use in our books? Example: “Dreamy Bedrooms” could be adapted to “Back in the Day” and students could talk about and draw pictures of their favorite childhood after-school pass time.
