Part I: Using available online news resources, find 3 articles that discuss current cases involving [suspected or proven] child abuse. You should have an even balance between cases of physical abuse and cases of neglect. For each article, provide the following: Title, Author, Source, Brief Summary, Action Taken, and Presumed Causal Factors. When discussing factors of cause, you may have to make some presumptions; please be sure these presumptions are backed up by the case.
Part II: Locate and visit the NC and Wake County department of social services websites. Research and record answers to the following: A.) What is the process for reporting child abuse in NC? B.) What are some indicators they provide for child abuse? (hint: see Child Protective Services) C.) What suggestions do they give parents who are being investigated by CPS?
