6 Expected consequences for NRLs
Expected consequences for NRLs ? 'MS shall designate one (or more) NRL per EURL' Per : 7 active UK EURLs --> 3 new designated EURLs Less EURLs so, less NRLs obligatory: 189-->81 NRLs Merging of tasks for UK EURLs on: Crustacean diseases, bluetongue, live bivalve molluscs Most of involved NRLs in MS are located in same institutes; Less than 5% in separate institutes From 7 to 3 EURLs: obligation from 27x7=189 NRLs to 27x3= 81 NRLs Merging of task for 3 EURLs: crustacean disease, contamination of molluscs, bluetongue so also 81 NRLs less obligatory So in total 189 NRLS Analysis of involved laboratories/institutes in MS show that in less than 5% separate institutes are involved.

7 location of NRLs ? Some MS have NRLs in the UK---> depending on negotiations Rules in Reg (EC)2017/625: MS may designate a NRL in: Other Member State 3rd country that is Contracting Party to Agreement on European Economic Area a NRL may be designated as NRL for several MSs Member States to reflect on designation of NRLs related to 'Brexit' developments !
