SAMSI is currently holding thematic year on the Development, Assessment and Utilization of Complex Computer Models
Computer models are important part of the work done at NCAR
This endeavor is an attempt to get the scientists interested in statistical aspects of computer simulators together with NCAR scientists

Anthropogenic Land Cover Change Experiments in the CCSM
Statistical Properties of Turbulent Flows
The Upper Atmosphere: Problems in Developing Realistic Models
The Planetary Boundary Layer and Uncertainty in Lower Boundary Conditions
Idea for each session is for speakers to present their science, models and potential research problems
Aim for participants is to ask questions to help understand issues, see if there is any mutual interests
Format is loose … each session has about 35 minutes for discussion to help understand problems

4. Tomorrow Break-out sessions
Participant will meet with one or several of the research groups
Attempt to further understand problems
Help formalize research problems
Scope out how might proceed towards solutions (e.g., data, models,…)

There will be four-ish research teams formed as a result of talks/breakout sessions
Liasons will organize collaborative research groups to address research problems
