3 Creating a unique folder
Create a unique folder under the D:\ Drive, or any other permanent drive (ex. Flash Drive) Create an images folder inside the new folder.

4 Defining the site Open Dreamweaver
In the toolbar click Site  New Site

5 Defining the site In the site definition window, click the “Basic” tab, to go through the site definition wizard.

6 Defining the site Set up the site details: Give the site a unique name
Choose NOT to use a server technology Choose to “Edit directly on server using FTP or RDS”. Browse to your folder. Enter FTP settings Host: Folder: depends on your folder’s name Login: Password: ALWAYS click  Test Connection

If the connection has been successfully made, your screen should show green folders on the right hand side of the screen (make sure you are in local view):

To save any changes made to the webpage, click either the ‘Put’ or ‘Synchronize’ button after the changes have been made. PUT SYNCHRONIZE

11 Common issues There are several reasons why an education student’s web portfolio may not work, the most common are: Forgot to save changes Image size too big Forgot to set the target on links to “blank”

12 Defining the site Click ‘Site’ on the menu option and then click ‘New Site’. Click the ‘Advanced’ tab in the Site Definition window You will see this screen if you did everything correctly:

13 IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT DEFINING THE SITE…
The local root folder should be set to the student’s flash drive, and the folder selected should be their portfolio folder. Example: G:\Bobby_Efolio Do not select any of the individual folders within the E-folio section; just hit the ‘Select’ button.

14 Setting the remote server information
Click ‘Remote Info’ in the Site Definition window, located on the left side. Select ‘FTP’ in the Access field Four fields will need to be filled out: FTP Host: portfolio.baylor.edu Host Directory: capital letter of your first name/Bear ID Ex: B/Bobby_Labbie Login: Baylor/Bear_ID Ex: Baylor\Bobby_Labbie Password: Baylor password Finally hit the ‘Test’ Button, located next to the login field. Once you have filled out all of your information correctly, click the ‘OK’ button.

15 Editing and saving information
To save any changes made to the webpage, click either the ‘Put’ or ‘Synchronize’ button, after the changes have been made. PUT SYNCHRONIZE (Remember, this will overwrite the previous version of the page.)
