2 Vision A Scotland that celebrates the joy children bring and values the contribution of parents and carers in our communities. We create opportunities for parents and carers to come together, share experiences and skills that enhance family and community life. We value building genuine and meaningful relationships with those we connect with. We also value the potential to change and grow.

3 Our capacity building programme
About us! Part funded through the Scottish Government, Big Lottery and a range of other funders from Dulverton, Robertson Trust to Lloyds (Henry Duncan). Our capacity building programme we are building skills of parents and carers in the local community who are then in turn supporting others. This includes young parents who are asking for more support in building their confidence to deal with services.

4 Parental engagement impact
As part of our work and support from the Scottish Government PNS have focused on building the capacity within our organisation as well as helping to sustain the capacity building work we carry out in local communities. Over 3 years we have engaged with:- 930 parents 1720 children We have trained 160 Parents and delivered 24 Development Awards. We have also trained 18 to facilitator status.

5 Our programmes Stage 1 PNS deliver a range of accredited programmes from our core Parenting Matters course The roles of a parent: Taking care of ourselves The power of language Helping our children with their problems The impact of labels on our children The importance of encouragement Accepting feelings Needs behind behaviour Emotional flooding Parenting styles Listening to ourselves Emotion coaching – supporting our children with their feelings Coping with stress and staying positive

6 Stage 2 Parenting for All Development Award – 24 hour programme.
Building confidence when facilitating or working with parents Linking needs, feelings and behaviours Recognising and accepting the emotional content and context when working with parents Involving parents and families in leadership, decision-making and change through learning

7 Facilitator Endorsed Award
Stage 3 Facilitator Endorsed Award Confidently facilitate and manage peer learning Facilitate learning which links needs, feelings and behaviours Recognise, accept and work with the emotional content and context of learners Involve peer learners in leadership, decision-making and change through learning

building 20 local parent networks over the next 3 years (160) Embedding our parent leadership programme Supporting more parents and children (960) (1920 children) Training more parents to become parent facilitators (15)

Listen to them Acknowledge the fear! Don’t talk down to them Support them Give them a hug  Tell them about PNS
