6. Required Materials These supplies must be in class every day!
Graphing Calculator (TI-84 plus)
There will be a calculator in school for you to use.
It is highly recommended that you buy a calculator for at-home use.
1 ½ or 2-inch binder only for geometry
Sections: Homework, Assessments, Review/Outlines, Notes)
Pencils, Pens, and Highlighters
*Talk to the instructor, if you need help obtaining the required supplies.

7. Calculator Use
You will be assigned a class calculator to use within class.
You are responsible for this calculator. DO NOT misuse the calculator, because in the end the only one that suffers from the misuse is YOU.
You are expected to grab your calculator at the beginning of the class when you enter the classroom and return the calculator at the end of the class period.
Each week there will be a calculator monitor assigned by the teacher to ensure that the calculators have been put away properly and that all calculators are accounted for.
You are responsible for memorizing the calculator strategies taught in class. The teacher will not assist you during any assessments in how to use the calculator.

8. Text Book Assignment
You will be given a textbook for the class.
Your textbook can be used at home, as an additional resource to study from.
You are responsible for keeping the textbook in pristine condition and are expected to return the textbook at the end of the school year.
I will keep a class set of algebra textbooks to be used in class, when necessary.

9. Organization
You are expected to be organized and prepared for my class.
Failure to enter the classroom prepared can lead to consequences such as detention.
Your binder should be divided into four sections
Homework
Assessments
Reviews/Outlines
Notes

10. Student and Classroom Expectations:
Students are expected to
Complete all course requirements, including classwork, homework, quizzes, exams, projects, etc.
Show up to class ready and on time every day.
Ready means that you have all your required materials and are engaged in the lesson, not conversations with your peers.
Enter the class quietly, take out your homework, and work on the do now activity.
Master Common Core Geometry and NYS Regents exam readiness standards.
Not talk while the teacher is talking or a peer is talking.
Learn the necessary vocabulary, theorems, and postulates in a timely manner.
Follow ALL school rules!
Try your best! Challenge and push yourself! Never give up!

11. Classroom Routine Do Now: Work on Do Now at the beginning of class.
Homework: Place homework on desk for review or collection at the beginning of class.
Review: Be prepared to share your work or listen for clarification.
Lesson: Be ready for a new lesson.
Guided Practice: Be engaged during class lecture.
Independent/Group Practice: Work well individually or with fellow classmates.
Assessments: Be prepared to engage in verbal discussion, to complete an exit card, or to complete a quiz.

12. Class Discipline Procedures:
If a student fails to follow any school or class rules, or has difficulty following class expectations within the class period, the following disciplinary procedure will occur:
Step 1: Verbal Reminder
Step 2: Written Documentation & Conference with Student
Step 3: Parent Notification (via written notice, phone call, voice message, or conference)
Step 4: Referral to Office

13. Grading Procedure for all graded work:
Exams - 35% Quizzes - 20% Homework - 10% Classwork/Participation - 35% 1. Attendance and participation are a part of the classwork grade. If a student is tardy, their grade for that day’s assignment will be affected. 2. Work must be submitted on time to be eligible for full credit. 3. Work may be made up for excused/ legal absences. It is your responsibility to find out from the instructor and complete any missed assignments. 4. All grades will be visible through Power School. You are responsible for checking your grades on Power School.

14. Classroom goal:
As a class, we will perform at the highest level. Our class goal for the year to achieve an 85% or better on the Algebra Common Core Regents exam. We will achieve this by:

Review the Syllabus with your parents/guardians, get it signed, and return it to class tomorrow.
