6 Tips for Helping Your Child be Successful in 9th Grade
Monitor their grades via Infinite Campus- Weekly (Please contact Mrs. Fields if you need your Infinite Campus login information. Ask your child to show you their notebook, class notes, or assignments at least 3 times a week Check the teacher website. Require your student to work on school work, read, and do a math problem for at least 1 hour on the weekend. Communicate with the teacher(s) via weekly/bi-weekly NEVER accept “we don’t have any homework”, as an answer.

7 TIPS Continued… Please talk to your student about how things are going at school, and their goals and aspirations. Remind them to seek help, if they are feeling overwhelmed or discouraged. It is a tough transition from middle school to high school. Allow your child to take a 15 minute break when completing homework. Limit the use of electronic devices when students are doing homework. (Various apps are available to help with this process) Go to commomsensemedia.com and you will find a list of apps that are available.

8 ACT/SAT Please have students begin to take practice ACT and SAT tests
Students should take the SAT or ACT, if they want to participate in the Dual Enrollment program next year. It is recommended that students take the SAT/ACT starting their junior year. ACT.org Collegeboard.org
