2
Motion Motion occurs when there is a change in position of an object with respect to a reference starting point.
3
Position The location of the object.
We know an object has changed position based on its reference starting point (RSP)
4
Direction The line or path along which something is moving pointing or aiming. We describe direction using:
5
Displacement (Final Position)
The change in position of an object, determined by: Distance (Meters) from the RSP Direction (N, S, E, W) from the RSP
6
Distance-Time Graphs Remember:
The steeper the slope the faster the speed. The flatter the slope the slower the speed. A straight line represents zero slope. Constant Speed: When time and distance increase at the same rate. Represented with a straight diagonal line.
7
SPEED Speed=Distance/Time We can find: Speed: V=d/t Time: t=d/v
Distance: d=v·t
8
Velocity Velocity can be positive or negative.
Velocity MUST have a direction. You use the EXACT SAME FORMULA to find velocity that you do speed.
