1
The effects of Alcoholism on Young People
2
What happens when you drink alcohol?
Alcohol is absorbed in the bloodstream and effects the way the body functions. Alcohol is a depressant and it slows down the functions of the central nervous system. The intake of a large amount of alcohol leads to intoxication making people feel disoriented and confused. Intoxication can make people very talkative and friendly or angry and aggressive, depending on their personality. Reaction time slows dramatically, that is why people who drink alcohol are not allowed to drive.
3
Why shouldn’t you drink heavily?
When large amounts of alcohol are consumed in a short time, alcohol poisoning can result. This causes violent vomiting, extreme sleepiness, unconsciousness, difficulty breathing, dangerously low blood sugar, seizures, and even death. Being less focused, you can break the law and get punished. You can put your health at risk by acting carelessly. Heavy drinkers cause damage to their liver, heart and the brain in the long run.
