Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I DSLR Crop Frame: Photoshop layer F rame Layer Creation: Photoshop process 1.Open a DSLR image in Photoshop. 2.Create a blank layer by clicking on the New Layer button at the bottom of the Layers palette. 3.Rename that new layer to crop frame. 4.Grab the lower right corner of the image screen and pull down and to the right by 10%.

Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I DSLR Crop Frame: Photoshop layer F rame Layer Creation: Continued 5.Choose the Rectangular Marque tool from Tools. 6.Choose Tools > Option > Style > Fixed 7.Set the aspect ratio – type in 4 for Width and 3 for Height for a horizontal frame. 8.Place your cursor in the light gray area outside the image on the top left corner. 9.Click and drag down and to the right.

Release the mouse. 11.Press and hold the right arrow key to move the selection towards the center. Release the key when the selection is centered. 12.Use the left and right keys as needed for fine tuning adjustment. 13.Choose Menu > Select > Inverse. This reverses the inside selection to the outside selection.

This will allow the image to show through by 30% to allow you to see what has been cropped off without having to turn off the layer…
