25 1.1 Waste Characterization
Objective: Gain knowledge in waste composition Know the efficiency of the industrial processes Know the VALUABLE MATERIALS in the waste streams Citizenship behaviour MADRID CITY WASTE CHARACTERIZATION – 2016 Streams analyzed: Inputs Internal Flows Outputs Organic material, digestates Etc. Sources: City Council EPR Schemes (Ecoembes) Operating companies CHARACTERIZATIONS SINCE THE PROGRAM STARTED NUMBER OF CHARACTERIZATIONS PER YEAR (ANNUAL AVERAGE): 5.250

26 1.2 Truck Weighting System
Data Capture and Exploitation System - S.A.E.D. Weighting process automation Centralization of information High quality registered data Easy data query and decission making Shorter time through control scales SAED started operating in 2009: Experience gained NUMBER OF DATA REGISTERED AND MANAGED IN 2016: Annual: transits through scales data captured Daily average: 711 transits data captured

29 1.5 Environmental Quality: Olfactometry Studies
Objective: Asses the waste treatment impact in order to identify corrective actions. Data acquisition: Complaint record (AVPAU y SyR). Olfactometry measurements, air dispersion and meteo – fido profiles. Daily inspections, Done by city officials. Two dynamic olfactometry campaigns per year. Other studies run in: 1995, 2001, 2009, (biofilters control), 2012, 2015. During 2016:  measurements, 13 different odour sources Between 2009 and 2016, data processed from more than odour complaints
