Factors and Multiples
2
8 = 1 8 2 4 Let’s Review Find the factors of 8.
8 = 2 4 Finally I will check if 8 is divisible by 3… it is NOT! So the only factors of 8 are 1,2,4, and 8 First I find the factor pair of 1 and the number. Then I check to see if the number is divisible by 2. It is!!

What patterns do you see?
Let’s Review Find the multiples of 1,2,4, and 8. Stop when you reach the number 8! 1 = 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 2 = 2,4,6,8 4 = 4,8 What patterns do you see? 8 = 8

What is the difference between a multiple and a factor?
A multiple is the product of a number and a counting number. For example 12 is a multiple of 3 because 3 x 4 = 12. A factor is a number that is multiplied by another number to find a product. For example 3 and 4 are factors of 12 because 3 x 4 = 12. Multiples continue forever – infinite Factor are finite (a specific amount)

What are some multiples of 4?
16 32 8 44 24 Is 25 a multiple of 4? How do you know the numbers are multiples of 4? NO, because 4 is NOT a factor of 25! Because 4 is a factor of each of the numbers!
