1 Proclaiming the Gospel and Making Disciples
WELCOME Welcome Invocation Confession and Forgiveness: P: As we begin, today, we confess our sins to the Lord. We will take a moment to examine ourselves in repentance and then sing together, Just as I Am, as a song of confession. (a time of silence to reflect and personally confess our sins) Song: Just as I Am (I Come Broken) P: Upon this, your confession, I announce to you the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. In the stead and by the command of our Lord Jesus, I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen P: By faith in Jesus Christ, you have been made alive in Him through Jesus' death and resurrection. Romans 6 tells us, "We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his." We proclaim this truth as we sing our next song, Because He Lives. Songs of Praise and Worship Because He Lives Shout to the North Old Testament Reading - Isaiah 52:6-10 Therefore my people shall know my name. Therefore in that day they shall know that it is I who speak; here I am." How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, "Your God reigns." The voice of your watchmen—they lift up their voice; together they sing for joy; for eye to eye they see the return of the Lord to Zion. Break forth together into singing, you waste places of Jerusalem, for the Lord has comforted his people; he has redeemed Jerusalem. The Lord has bared his holy arm before the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God. Epistle Reading - 1 Peter 3:8-17 Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. For "Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil." Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God's will, than for doing evil. Children's Message (Children dismissed to Children's Church) Sermon - "Go Ye Therefore Part 2 - Baptizing Them" Gospel Reading: Matthew 28:16-20 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." Apostles' Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Prayers Offering (Children return during offering) The Lord's Prayer Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen Words of Institution Peace P: The peace of the Lord be with you all. C: And also with you. 86 Proclaiming the Gospel and Making Disciples
Have a great day! Welcome Invocation Confession and Forgiveness: P: As we begin, today, we confess our sins to the Lord.
