2 What is a sentence? a set of words that is complete in itself, typically containing a subject and predicate, conveying a statement, question, exclamation, or command, and consisting of a main clause and sometimes one or more subordinate clauses Ex: We are going to have a great year at William Penn!

3 What is a subject/predicate?
The who in the sentence – normally a noun (person, place, thing, or idea) The what or the action in the sentence – normally a verb. Ex: Billy Penn is the school’s mascot.

4 Grammar Rock! Maybe this will help you remember the parts of a sentence. If you don’t have a complete thought, a subject and a predicate, you don’t have a complete sentence! w
