Term Definition Example Common Noun A word used to identify any of a class of people, places, or things . store, shoe, baby Proper Noun A name used for an individual person, place, or organization. A proper noun is spelled with a capital letter. Beyoncé, Taco Bell, Converse

Singular Noun vs. Plural Noun
Term Definition Example Singular Noun Names only one person, place, thing, or idea. dog, book, peach, baby, lady Plural Noun Names more than one person, place, thing, or idea. Most singular nouns can be made plural by just adding an s to the end. Nouns ending in x, z, s, sh and ch form the plural by adding an es to the end. Words ending with a consonant + y, change y to i and add es dogs, computers, books peaches, boxes, beaches ladies, babies, coutnires
