1 Module 4: Becoming a YES Person
Using the “Becoming a Yes Person” handout, the teacher facilitates a whole-class discussion of the meanings and key concepts of a person’s ‘inner’ and ‘outer’ worlds. For example, you can ask which responses they tend to use in various situations. You can ask them when they’ve seen/heard other people use various response. You can give situations and ask the students to give their responses.

2 Becoming a YES person activity
Do you change in different situations? Can you describe how different situations impact your being Yes or No person? In pairs, students work out from their response on the “Becoming a Yes Person” activity whether they are ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ type people. Do they change in different situations? Can they describe how different situations impact their being Yes or No people?

3 Journal Topic for Today
Write three or more sentences describing and explaining how negative and positive self-talk have affected the way you feel and your ability to succeed at whatever you are trying to do, whether it’s a game, a project at home, school work, or a skill. This ends the activity. Possible stretch activity is to have student volunteers share. Do not require sharing.
