2 Mission Statement Waconia JO Volleyball is dedicated to providing a competitive volleyball club.  We are focused on training our athletes to play to the best of their ability by emphasizing fundamentals within a competitive environment.  At the same time, our players will learn the meaning of team, a strong sense of sportsmanship and the enjoyment of playing the game they love.  Kelle – UPDATED

Where: Waconia High School, 1650 Community Dr, Waconia * 11's and 12's:  10:30-12:00pm (check in begins at 10:10am) * 13's and 14's:  1:00-3:00pm (check in begins at 12:50pm) When: Sunday, November 11, 2018 * 11's and 12's:  10:30-12:00am (check in begins at 10:10am) * 13's and 14's:  1:00-2:30pm (check in begins at 12:40pm) * 15's and Up:  3:00-5:00pm (check in begins at 2:40pm) You are encouraged to attend both dates where applicable. Register for Tryouts online Go to Select More+ to see Tryouts tab OR From the Homepage, scroll to ‘Tryouts’ section at the bottom of the website Click the Register button. Log in, or create an account if needed, and follow the registration steps John – UPDATED

7 2018 – 2019 JO Tryouts What to bring to tryouts
Check for $85 (tryout fee of $35, if not paid online at time of registration, commitment fee $50) (Payable to Waconia JO Volleyball) $50 will be applied to your club fees. If an athlete doesn’t make a team, your $50 team commitment fee will be refunded. Deposit will not be returned if you decide not to commit to a team that you were placed on and leave the club. Full water bottle Appropriate attire (no tank tops) Appropriate footwear (volleyball shoes preferred, no street shoes) Sign up & tryout based on your daughters age as of September 1. It is possible that an athlete may be placed at a higher age level based on team needs and ability. No athlete will be placed on a team at an age level below their defined age group. John- UPDATED

9 2018 – 2019 JO Tryouts The goal of tryouts is to establish teams with the right mix of talent, positions and attitude while maintaining a manageable number of athletes on each team. We will do our best to place all athletes on a team, however, cuts are possible. If cuts are necessary, it will be based on tryout evaluations, team needs and positions available for each team. 10 Practices Practices Each team will have 1 to 2 practices per week. Each practice will typically be 1.5 hours each. There may be times where practices are overlapped/combined with other teams based on court availability. Locations (others may be added if they become available) All Waconia schools Safari Island Cologne Academy General Practice Times Mon – Fri, starting as early as 5:30pm and might go as late at 9:30pm Sundays, later in the day, typically starting 5:00pm or later. Fees cover 5 weekend tournaments (Feb – April) 12-1’s & 13’s Fees include 5 Power League dates at Midwest Volleyball Warehouse, plus 5 weekend tournaments. (Jan – April) 10 tournaments include Big City Luau and Presidents Weekend 14’s and up Fees include 10 weekend tournaments. 13 Coaches We have returning coaches committed to the club and are currently looking for additional head coaches and assistant coaches for the upcoming season. We will be having a coaches meeting prior to the start of the season to go over the goals of the club and get our coaches prepared for the upcoming season. April – UPDATED

1st payment Nov 14th With this payment you will be required to pay, via check or cash the $100 fundraising fee. 20 Fundraising Committing to ONE Fundraising Event
Hopper’s Event – Date January 18th Raffle Ticket Drawing Major prizes include autographed Xavier Rhodes jersey and YETI cooler (both valued at $300!) Raffle tickets and details will be distributed when team practices start. Hopper’s donates 50% of the proceeds of their receipts for that 2.5hours period Stacy - UPDATED

21 Fundraising We are contacting local businesses for raffle prize donations – we will let you know who donated to our Club, let’s make sure to support these businesses who support our athletes! If you know anyone who would be willing to support our athletes (items such as $25/50 gift cards, gift baskets, or other prizes), please contact anyone on the JO Board. 22 Uniforms Jerseys will be provided for 11’s – 12’s.
You will be charged $40 if you do not return your jersey at the end of the JO season. Jerseys will be distributed once teams have been decided. Jerseys for 14’s – 17’s WILL BE player owned This is a change from years past and we expect to use these jerseys for years. Jersey sizing will be at tryout so please make sure your daughter tries a jersey on and a parent initials the correct size was written down. Black spandex shorts will NOT be provided but are required as part of the JO Volleyball uniform. We are setting up a discount purchase program for the spandex shorts. Shelly – UPDATED

We MAY BE offering a discount, typically 20%-30% off of retail for select Mizuno products that we will offer on our website. You can look at various products here to get an idea of what they carry. Shelly – UPDATED

24 JO Gear JO Gear will be available for purchase
Various clothing gear will be available with the Waconia JO logo for purchase. We will have some examples after practice starts. Every player in good standing will receive a long sleeved black WJO tee-shirt/warm up Good Standing means fulfilling their WJO obligations: completed registrations, sign-off on player/parent code of conduct, fees paid in full and fundraising commitment fulfilled. 26 Parent Reps Each Team needs to have a “Parent Representative”.
During the Team Mtg ( Nov 13th), we’ll be looking for a volunteer for every team. Some of the responsibilities of a Parent Rep include: Communicate team information via , text or team apps. Coordinate fundraising with committee and team. Help collect Waconia JO Club player payments. Coordinate plans for away tournaments, if applicable. Ie: hotel reservations, dinner plans, etc. Assist coaches as needed. Attend meetings if necessary. Kelle – UPDATED

27 Registration Process Tryout registration is just for tryouts not the team registration. Tryout registration Deadline: Nov 1st on-line Walk-ins are welcome but pre-registration is appreciated.
