Foundation or Higher? Both award a Grade 4 (standard pass) and Grade 5 (strong pass) Foundation has greater weighting of AO1 fluency questions and numeracy skills Higher has 50% of content aimed at Grade 7-9

What colleges are asking for…
Elliot Hudson: Achieve 5 or more standard GCSE passes or higher (grade 4 or higher). To study Maths, a grade 6 or above in GCSE Maths is required. To study Further Maths, a grade 7 or above is required. Other courses e.g. Physics, Economics require Grade 5 or above. Notre Dame: Achieve 5 or more standard GCSE passes or higher (grade 4 or higher). To study Maths, a grade 6 or above in GCSE Maths is required. To study Further Maths, a grade 7 or above is required. Practice, practice, practice! Practice paper booklets available from February at a price of £3.50 on Parent Pay (please select Higher or Foundation) Revision sessions to be compulsory (January onwards). Attendance will link to prom tickets

What can you do? Get involved!
Support them with their homework and make sure it’s completed on time. Review their feedback form from their recent mocks and focus on the ‘Red’ topics. Make sure they prioritise revision and offer incentives. Talk about their attitude to maths and their overall well-being.
