Chapter 7 Section 3 Similar Polygons
5
Polygons (including triangles) are SIMILAR if and only if…
1. Corresponding angles are congruent. 2. Corresponding sides are proportional
6
The two polygons are similar.
The ratio of the two sets of corresponding sides is called the scale factor. Pentagon QRSTP is similar to pentagon WXYZV with a scale factor of 5:8 or 5/8.

CLASSWORK: P Tell if the two polygons are sometimes, always, or never similar. Two equilateral triangles Two isosceles triangles Two right triangles Two scalene triangles Two squares Two rectangles Two rhombuses Two isosceles trapezoids Two regular hexagons Two regular pentagons A right triangle and an acute triangle An isosceles triangle and a scalene triangle A right triangle and a scalene triangle An equilateral triangle and and equiangular triangle

CLASSWORK: P , P ,25,26 DO IN YOUR GROUPS -
11
HOMEWORK: 1) Read and take detailed notes on page 254 and Your notes should include the entire proof on page 255. 2) Read and take notes on Section 263 and Copy example problems into your notes. Seek to understand what you are taking notes on, do not just copy text into your notebook. If questions arise, and you do not understand the text or examples, write down your questions and bring them to class. QUIZ next class period on Chapter 6.1, 6.4, 7.1, In addition there will be a proof requiring theorems used throughout the year to date.
