The Bible Definition of Kindness The definition of kindness begins with God. God is kind to believers. “That in the ages to come He may show the incomparable riches of God's grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.” (Eph. 2:7)

"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you" (Ephesians 4:32). "Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience" (Colossians 3:12).

Proverbs 20:28 describes qualities God wants in a leader: “Mercy and truth preserve the king, and by lovingkindness he upholds his throne.” Peter wrote of adding love to “brotherly kindness” (2 Peter 1:7) Paul wrote about putting on “tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering” (Colossians 3:13).

Biblical Examples of Kindness Kindness is unselfish and offered to all. Good Samaritan (Luke 10) A priest and a Levite ignored the wounded man. A Samaritan helped him. Jesus said the Samaritan was an example of a good neighbor.

Ruth had a son, Obed. Obed was the father of Jesse. Jesse was the father of David the king of Israel, an ancestor of Jesus.

The Bible Definition of Goodness The definition of goodness begins with God. After each creation, God looked at it & said, "It is good." Goodness means something that pleases God. A good person is a person who is pleasing to God. Goodness is whatever is worthy of God’s approval. What does it take to please God? Whatever that is, that will be good.

The Imitation of God’s Goodness Our goodness is a reflection of God’s goodness. Goodness in the Bible is God himself. God is the source of goodness and the standard by which it is determined. The Father and the Son are good, and they do good and they create good. A good tree produces good fruit.
