Developed by: Napoleon Built to celebrate Napoleon’s victories: has bricks with names of generals in his army The base houses the Grave of the Unknown Soldiers for those who lost their lives during World War I Visitors may climb to the top and look out from the viewing platform

3 Le Centre Pompidou Built 1971-1977
Design was the winning entry in a competition Stands apart because all major functions are built outside: the elevators, the pipes, and the ducts – they are all color coded: blue for air, green for water, red for elevators, yellow for electricity, gray for corridors and white for the building itself.

4 Sacré Cœur Year Built: 1875-1914 Height: 272 ft
The clock tower has a 18.5 tons clock, named Savoyarde Located on a hill in Montmartre – where all the famous artists lived and the location of Moulin Rouge.

5 L’Opera Year Built: 1862-1875 Height: 241 ft
By acreage it is one of the largest operas in the world, though it only seats 2,200

7 Place de la Concorde At 20 acres, the octagonal Place de la Concorde is the largest square in Paris. At each corner of the octagonal square is a statue representing a French city: Bordeaux, Brest, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Rouen and Strasbourg.

8 Le Musée du Louvre Was built in 3 stages by the Parisian rulers
It displays about 35,000 works of art, among them some world-famous like the Mona Lisa from Leonardo da Vinci, Venus de Milo and Winged Victory.

9 Monument at la Place de la Bastille
The Place de la Bastille (Bastille Square) was the location of the notorious Bastille stronghold, which was stormed on July 14, 1789, triggering the start of the French Revolution. The only monument still standing on the square is the Colonne de Juillet, a column commemorating another revolution in 1830 during which king Charles X was replaced by king Louis-Philippe. The 52 meter high column (171 ft) honors the 504 victims during the 3 days of the revolution. The column is topped by the 'Spirit of Liberty' statue.

10 La Tour Eiffel Built 1887-1889 Height: 984 ft
Built for the 1889 International Exhibition, Paris, the centenary celebration of the French Revolution. 1652 Steps take you to the third level.

11 L’Hôtel des Invalides The complex known as the Hôtel National des Invalides was founded in 1671 by Louis XIV, the Sun King. He wanted to provide accommodation for disabled and impoverished war veterans. The building was completed in 1676 and housed up to 4,000 war veterans.

12 Le Musée d’Orsay Built: 1898-1900 as a train station
Restoration started in 1979 and finally on the 29th of November 1986, the museum was inaugurated The museum contains 2300 paintings, 1500 sculptures and 1000 other objects.
