Impulsive Carts Lab Seo Physics
2
Objectives To find the relationship of the Motion Carts velocity, propulsion, with weights To visualize both types of collisions through representations
3
Materials Motion Carts (2) Masses (500 grams) (3) Motion Sensors (2) LabQuest Pro Steel Ramp Index Cards (2)
4
Procedure Place one motion cart on one end, and the second cart on the other end Lay out two Motion Sensors on both ends, behind each carts Connect both Motion Sensors with cable input to the LabQuest Pro The cable inputs for the first Motion Sensor should go to DIG1 Port The cable inputs for the second Motion Sensor should go to DIG2 Port Follow the lab chart provided by adding the mass when appropriate per direction of the cart Place index cards on each Motion Cart before running data Draw TOT Momentum Charts for all data sets
5
On the LabQuest… After connecting Motion Sensors in each of DIG1 and DIG2 Ports, click on Sensors on the top of the screen and press Zero for both Sensors Once the experiment is set up, head over to the graph symbol at the top right of the LabQuest Graphing should show TWO Position vs. Time Draw the Correct graphs accordingly If it is the Left Car colliding, draw the graph for the Left Cart If it is the Right Car colliding, draw the graph for the Right Cart Zoom in at the crash by highlighting the graph
6
Conclusion Questions
7
Lab Report Data Section Criteria
ALL Calculations for Momentum Collision work for EACH trial TOT Momentum Bar Charts for EACH trial Position vs Time Graph for EACH trial ALL Units, Labels and Variables for BOTH the work AND graphs Work AND Graphs done NEATLY in pen (NO RED OR PINK PEN!!) Points deducted if directions not followed!!!!
