Culture of Athletics We believe in creating a positive culture of athletics which provides the development of the whole person. We believe it’s important for all involved – students athletes, coaches, parents and spectators to conduct themselves in a manner that is responsible, respectful and encouraging to those around us.
9
Alcohol and other Drug Policy 606.2
The board of education believes there is no place for alcohol or drugs in sports. An athlete is a student who is playing a sport and has signed an athletic contract. Any Athlete who violates Policy at any athletic or non-athletic event, under the jurisdiction of the District, or under the jurisdiction of any other school district, will be suspended from participation in the athletic program for up to one calendar year from the date of violation. Policy outlines how suspensions are determined. ** Before an athlete is reinstated there must be a meeting with the parent/guardian, AD and administrator.
10
Student-Athlete Code of Conduct

Communicating with Coaches
Communicating with coaches is welcomed, however the timing is critical. Before, during, or right after a game are not the times to have discussions. Talk to your son or daughter and have them talk to the coach(es) first. s are often written in anger and/or misunderstood. If you are upset or frustrated please delay the discussion a day or two and then set up a meeting to see the coach.
15
Playing Time Determined at the discretion of the coach
Is not guaranteed to be equal at any level Coaches will endeavor to communicate how much time each player can expect to play Please give coaches the benefit of the doubt Encourage parents/guardians/players to understand that a player’s value to their team is much more than the amount time they play
16
How you can help us? Be part of the solution, not the problem.
Leave the reffing to the refs, coaching to the coaches. Encourage positivity in stands/social media Studies show that kids dread the ride home and the coaching that takes place in the vehicle from their parents (leads to drop out). Studies also show kids want to hear: “I love watching you play.” - ( or your team) “I am proud of you.” If they don’t play very much, encourage/praise them for being supportive of their teammates and engaged in the game. Instead of using player names when cheering replace with Sabres or Sa-Hali. Encourage commitment and time management. Be engaged. Put your cell phone away. Enjoy the time watching the team. 5 years goes by fast.
