Your aims and rationale are clear and relevant the specialist study topic. Your rationale clearly specifies the link between your specialist study topic and your FMP. You have shown a good awareness of the profession of sports journalism. You could have discussed in more detail these two perspectives on journalistic practice. You have clearly communicated how this study will develop your FMP work – your own practice. You have produced an excellent bibliography consisting of a range of research sources (academic, cultural and primary) that are relevant to your specialist study. You have demonstrated a very good awareness of the subject of your study and a clarity of purpose. 1.2 Apply knowledge of critical perspectives to inform own practice 2.1 Identify a range of relevant academic and cultural sources for a personal research project Literature Review You have reviewed a range of research sources in detail commenting on reliability and usefulness for your specialist study. In relation to the first two sources, if you have analysed the websites, they should be classified as primary research You needed to include a reference for each source within the body of your literature review (not the full reference however. The full reference need only to included in the Bibliography.) Your paragraph on Ofcom includes a error. Your bibliography should be presented in alphabetical order. Your essay is interesting and focussed on your aims. You have identified key ways in which radio sports journalists can deliver and perform optimally. The points you make are relevant and well constructed. Some points could be developed further. For example, the paragraph on the importance of using appropriate technology in an effective way. 2.2 Critically evaluate information from a range of sources to inform ideas. 3.1 Apply academic conventions in the production and presentation of ideas. Specialist Study essay: You have effectively applied academic conventions in the structure of your essay and language and syntax you have employed in your essay. You have used paragraphing appropriately and have introduced and concluded your essay effectively. Good use of Harvard Referencing through the main body of the essay and the bibliography. You have produced a proposal, literature review and academic essay following appropriate conventions. There are some grammatical errors and issues regarding the formality of your language. For example, instead of "...presenters need to be clued up so they can express their views and opinions... " you could use the term "knowledgable". 3.2 Effectively communicate ideas in appropriate formats. Has the student passed the Unit? Pass: Referral: Referral Actions: Date: 11th June 2014
