To help with your understanding of the concept of Imperialism, we are going to play a Board Game!!
The game Settlers of Catan helps explain why you would want to build Settlements in new, unclaimed lands

4. How We Will Play
You will be divided into groups of 4-6 (depending on how many copies of the game I can secure). You will have the whole class to play the game:
The Last 5 minutes of the class will be devoted to cleaning the game up
After we play the game you will answer some reflection questions about how you believe Caftan relates to what we are learning in class. You will discuss the answers with your group, and then answer them individually
The reflection questions will be collected for marks

5. Rest of This Class
I will take groups of students to the back of the class to look at the game, discuss how to start the game, and then ask any questions you may have
If you are not at the back of the class, then you are working on your Chapter 2 Vocab SILENTLY!
