2. Red--Descriptive Writing
The 5 senses are sight, smell, touch, taste and hearing
In red, write which sense is being used above that sentence
Example:
touch smell
The icy, cold water reeked of rotting seaweed.

3. Orange--Vivid Words
In orange, circle any words that could be revised to be more interesting
The girl walked to the edge of the grass.
In orange, circle any phrases that are too much “telling”
Nedry was frustrated that it was raining.

4. Green--Sentence Structure
In green, write above each sentence
whether the previous sentence was
same, longer or shorter.
Example:
longer
The thunder boomed. Sweat beading, Nedry slipped while the dinosaur DNA slipped away.The dinosaur roared.

5. Blue--Grammar In blue, circle any words that are spelled wrong.
In blue, put three lines under any letter that needs to be capitalized
In blue, write fragment over any incomplete sentences

6. Fix It!
Red--find parts where you can add more senses (4 out of 5 for advanced)
Orange--use a thesarus to help with word choice ( focus on how to show emotions not tell
Green--Break up or combine sentences(careful not to create run-ons or fragments)
Blue--use spell check; be sure all sentences have subject, verb, don’t leave you hanging
