What is your favorite genre? Artist or band? What role does music play in popular culture? How can music be used to express an idea, message or perspective?

3 Directions Music has always been a common form of expression for all emotions. From the beat to the lyrics themselves, they are powerful. During the 1960s and 1970s in the United States, popular music was a common medium to express and promote peace and change; mainly in response to the US involvement in the Vietnam War. We will be listening to a selection of popular songs from the time period that explore attitudes and feelings of the period. After listening to each song and analyzing it, answer the following questions on your worksheet.
