1 Warning and Informational Decals
Information Segment KBT 2.1

2 Learning Objective(s)
The exterior of your SPYDERCRANE has a number of decals that explain some of the rules and restrictions for operating and servicing your SPYDERCRANE. Topic 2.1 goes over the various informational and warning decals posted on the exterior of your SPYDERCRANE. At the conclusion of this Topic, you should be able to... DLO 2.1.1: Identify and summarize the WARNING DECALS posted on the SPYDERCRANE. DLO 2.1.2: Explain the purpose and associated dangers with using the TPD ZERO-RESET INFORMATIONAL DECAL. DLO 2.1.3: Identify the LOAD CHART(S) on the carrier of the SPYDERCRANE. DLO 2.1.4: Identify the WORKING RANGE CHART(S) on the carrier of the SPYDERCRANE. DLO 2.1.5: Identify the TRAVEL LIMIT INFORMATION DECALS on the SPYDERCRANE. DLO 2.1.6: Identify the SLING INFORMATION DECALS on the SPYDERCRANE. DLO 2.1.7: Identify the PRIMARY/SECONDARY POWER-PLANT INFORMATION DECALS on the SPYDERCRANE. DLO 2.1.8: Identify the OUTRIGGER DEPLOYMENT INFORMATIONAL DECALS on the carrier of the SPYDERCRANE. DLO 2.1.9: Explain the meaning of the PROHIBIT WASHING DECALS.

3 Reference Locations Storage Compartment Location for 095- and 200-Series All of the hard-copy manuals and guides for your SPYDERCRANE are kept in the STORAGE COMPARTMENT The Storage Compartment is installed on the left-side of the BOOM TURRET on URW095 and Series SPYDERCRANEs The Storage Compartment is installed on the rear of the URW094 SPYDERCRANE, below the TRAVEL CONTROL GROUP (TCG)     To avoid confusion, we use specific terms to refer to locations on the CARRIER and UPPERWORKS of the SPYDERCRANE. Since the SPYDERCRANE's upperworks (the part that contains the turret and boom) can be moved independently of its carrier, we will use specific language when pointing out the different sides of the upperworks and carrier.  First, we'll cover the sides and locations on the carrier.   SPYDERCRANE Micro-Crawlers are TRAVELED, or propelled under their own power, from the rear where the Travel Control Group is located. The opposite side of the Micro-Crawler, where the stowed boom tip and hook are located, is the front. If you are standing at the rear end of the SPYDERCRANE, the side of the Micro-Crawler on your right is the curbside (as in it would be the side of the SPYDERCRANE nearest the curb if you were driving the SPYDERCRANE on the street). The opposite side from the curbside, is the roadside.   Electronic copies can be made available through SPYDERCRANE TRAINING or PARTS SUPPORT Storage Compartment Location for 094

4 Informational Decals vs. Warning Decals
INFORMATIONAL DECALS are decals applied to the exterior of the SPYDERCRANE that convey operating information, or procedures for accomplishing a specific task.  An example of an informational decal would be the GASOLINE FUEL SHUT-OFF VALVE USE DIAGRAM, which displays the different operating positions of the FUEL SHUT-OFF VALVE.    WARNING DECALS are decals applied to the exterior of the SPYDERCRANE that identify dangers and hazards that you MUST be aware of, and avoid. An example of a warning decal would be the OVERHEAD POWER-LINE WARNING DECAL, which warns you against approaching overhead power-lines with the SPYDERCRANE's boom.

5 Curbside Informational Decals
On the curbside of the SPYDERCRANE (you are looking at the SPYDERCRANE and the travel controls are on the left side and the hook and boom tip is on the right side) you will find the following decals for: Setting up and using the remote controller The procedures for deploying/re-deploying the outriggers in Emergency Mode The legend for some of the error codes that are generated by the Crane Management Unit and displayed on the Code Indicator The hand signal chart for crane operations, which is posted on the Storage Box If you are using a gasoline/propane-powered SPYDERCRANE you will also see the Fuel Shutoff Valve Diagram on the curbside carrier

6 Curbside Warning Decals
The Warning Decals on the SPYDERCRANE's curbside include:  The FOOT CRUSH WARNING, which warns against trapping your feet under the feet of the outriggers during deployment.

7 Rear Informational Decals
At the rear of the SPYDERCRANE (where the travel controls are), you will find the following Informational Decals:  The TRACK CONTROL BASE POSITIONS DECAL, which explains the different operating modes of the SPYDERCRANE and how to change them, using the Track Control Base.  GAS/PROPANE SWITCH PROCEDURES DECAL, which explains how to switch from gasoline to propane, and back again. Only found on gas/propane-powered SPYDERCRANEs.  VEHICLE DATA PLATE, which identifies the Serial Number and Make/Model of your SPYDERCRANE.

8 Rear Warning Decals     At the rear of the SPYDERCRANE (where the travel controls are), you will find the following Warning Decals:  The TRAVEL LIMITS DECAL, which warns the operator from exceeding the travel angle limits of your SPYDERCRANE. The TRAVEL-ON-GRADE WARNING DECAL, which warns against traveling over obstacles and on inclines.

9 Front Informational Decals
At the front of the SPYDERCRANE, you will see the following Informational Decals The PROHIBITED AREA OF OPERATIONS DECAL, which describes the created prohibited zones within the SPYDERCRANE's working radius when it is deployed using Non-Optimum Deployment Patterns. The MAX-EXT OUTRIGGERS POSTURE AND PROCEDURES DECAL, which warns against traveling over obstacles and on inclines.

10 Front Warning Decals     At the front of the SPYDERCRANE, you will see the following Warning Decals: The ELECTROCUTION HAZARD (OVERHEAD) WARNING DECAL, which warns against maneuvering the upperworks of the SPYDERCRANE into overhead power-lines.

11 Roadside Informational Decals
Standing at the SPYDERCRANE's roadside, you will see the following Informational Decals: The TIP-OVER PREVENTION DEVICE ZERO-RESET PROCEDURES DECAL, which identifies the controls used to zero-reset the Tipover Prevention Device. The TIP-OVER PREVENTION DEVICE GENERAL PROCEDURES DECAL, which lists the operating instructions for the Tipover Prevention Device. The SLING-FOR-HOISTING PROCEDURES DECAL, which identifies the pick-points for attaching sling shackles to the SPYDERCRANE. The BOOM ANGLE INDICATOR, which you will use during lifting operations. The 110V BATTERY CHARGING PROCEDURES DECAL, which explains the general conditions and limits for charging the battery pack of the Battery/Electric SPYDERCRANE.

12 Topside Informational Decals
On the top of the SPYDERCRANE's carrier, you will see the following Informational Decals: The RATED LOAD CHART DECAL, which warns against maneuvering the upperworks of the SPYDERCRANE into overhead power-lines. The WORKING RANGE CHART DECAL, which warns against maneuvering the upperworks of the SPYDERCRANE into overhead power-lines. The RATED LOAD DEFINITION DECAL, which warns against maneuvering the upperworks of the SPYDERCRANE into overhead power-lines.

13 Topside Warning Decals
On the top of the SPYDERCRANE's carrier, you will see the following Warning Decals: The READ-THE-MANUAL WARNING DECAL, which warns that operators of this SPYDERCRANE MUST read the manual first.  The DEPLOY-THE-OUTRIGGERS WARNING DECAL, which warns against attempting to operate the SPYDERCRANE (in crane mode) without properly deploying its outriggers. The PROHIBIT WASHING WARNING DECAL, which specifically warns against pressure-washing the internal components of the SPYDERCRANE, behind the sheet-metal carrier cover.
