3. Reference Locations
Micro-Crawlers are traveled (propelled under their own power) from the REAR

The side of the Micro-Crawler where the hook is stowed is the FRONT
ROADSIDE
CURBSIDE
When standing at the rear, the side of the Micro-Crawler on your right side is the CURBSIDE
To avoid confusion, we use specific terms to refer to locations on the carrier and the upperworks of the SPYDERCRANE. SPYDERCRANE Micro-Crawlers are traveled, or propelled under their own power, from the rear where the Travel Control Group is located. The opposite side of the Micro-Crawler, where the stowed boom tip and hook are located, is the front. If you are standing at the rear then the SPYDERCRANE’s curbside is on your right while the roadside is on your left.
The opposite side is the ROADSIDE

Informational decals provide guidance for a specific system or procedures for accomplishing a specific task. On the curbside of the SPYDERCRANE you will find the following decals for:
Setting up and using the remote controller
The procedures for deploying/re-deploying the outriggers in Emergency Mode
The legend for some of the error codes that are generated by the Crane Management Unit and displayed on the Code Indicator
The hand signal chart for crane operations, which is posted on the Storage Box
If you are using a gasoline/propane-powered SPYDERCRANE you will also see the Fuel Shutoff Valve Diagram on the curbside carrier

5. Warning Decals CURBSIDE
Decals that warn, or provide critical safety information
Foot Crush Warning
(on each outrigger)
Warning Decals are used to identify especially dangerous conditions that you MUST avoid.
On the curbside, you will see foot crush warnings posted on the bottom of each Lower Outrigger; these warning are also posted on the roadside outriggers.

At the rear of the SPYDERCRANE, you will see a large decal that shows the different position settings for the Track Control Base. Below that decal is the Vehicle Data Plate. The Vehicle Data Plate contains information specific to that SPYDERCRANE, including its serial number.
If you are using a gas/propane-powered 095-/200-Series, the large decal on the back of the boom explains how to switch from gasoline to propane fuel.

On the back of Outrigger #2 is a small decal listing the travel limits of the SPYDERCRANE. There is another warning decal on the top of the boom that details the maximum grade limits of your SPYDERCRANE.

When deploying the outriggers using a NON-OPTIMUM DEPLOYMENT PATTERN, PROHIBITED ZONES are created; this chart lists the eight most common Non-Optimum Deployment Patterns and the resulting Prohibited Zones
The procedures for, and visual depiction of, pre-deploying the outriggers into the MAXIMUM-EXTENDED (MAX-EXT) DEPLOYMENT STATE

The Turnover Prevention Device Zero-Reset Procedures
We will cover the TPD Zero Reset procedures in a later lesson, but, for now the most important to understand is that you should NEVER command a Zero Reset when the SPYDERCRANE is deployed.

On the top of the Micro-Crawler are the following warning decals:
The Read-the-manual Warning Decal
The warning that outriggers must be deployed before the SPYDERCRANE can be used for lifting.
And several “prohibit washing” decals; these decals simply warn against using a pressure washer to spray inside of the carrier’s sheet-metal panels; the SPYDERCRANE itself can be washed like an other piece of heavy machinery.

Warning Decals identify especially dangerous conditions that MUST be understood and avoided.
While it is important to know where the Turnover Prevention Device Informational Decal is located, it is even more important to understand that you MUST never command a zero-reset when the SPYDERCRANE is deployed.
The Travel Limit Warning and Informational Decals are posted on the top of the boom and on the back of Outrigger #3, within your line-of-sight when you are at the Travel Control Group.
The information for slinging the SPYDERCRANE for hoisting is posted on Outriggers #1 and #4.
If you SPYDERCRANE is equipped with a secondary powerplant, you can find the informational decals for the secondary powerplant posted near, or on, them.
Information for deploying your SPYDERCRANE are posted on the carrier front, near the Outrigger Control Group.
You will see Prohibit Washing decals posted on the front of the carrier, near the access ports; these decals are ther to warn you from using a pressure washer on the inside of the carrier’s sheet-metal panels.
The DEPLOYMENT INFORMATION DECALS are posted on the carrier, near the OUTRIGGER CONTROL GROUP
The PROHIBIT WASHING DECALS only mean that you be careful not to spray the interior of the carrier with a pressure washer
