1 Updated Information HOW TO SAQ

2 The Short Answer Questions (SAQ) follow the Multiple Choice portion of the AP exam.
You have 40 minutes.

3 4 SAQs, and each one has 3 parts.
The Short Answer Questions (SAQ) follow the Multiple Choice portion of the AP exam. Using the picture below, answer all parts of the question that follows A. Identify ONE way the interaction above represents the Tang Dynasty’s hegemony over neighboring states. B. Explain how the picture represents a continuity in Chinese imperial history. C. Explain on way in which the interaction between China and central Asia changed after the collapse of the Song Dynasty. There are 4 SAQs, and each one has 3 parts.

4 You must answer questions 1 & 2, but you have a choice of answering either question 3 or 4.

5 TIMING: 3 QUESTIONS 3 PARTS (ABC) 9 THINGS TO DO 9 40 MINUTES
x 9 THINGS TO DO 9 40 MINUTES 4:26 PER PART

6 You used the ACE strategy to answer each part.
In the past, the SAQs asked you to: “Identify and explain …” or “Describe and explain …” You used the ACE strategy to answer each part.

7 How to ACE the SAQ ACE it A - Answer C – Cite E – Expand
A = Answer Directly answer the question by identifying your claim. C = Cite Provide specific evidence to support your claim. E = Expand Explain how your evidence and claim answer the question.

8 ACE strategy will still be helpful on parts “B” and “C.”
The Big Change College board has made a subtle change in the format of the questions: Part A will ask you to: “Identify …” or “Describe …” Parts B and C will ask you to “Explain …” ACE strategy will still be helpful on parts “B” and “C.”

9 How NOT to Write the SAQ Do NOT repeat the prompt Do NOT write a short essay Do NOT write a paragraph Do NOT write a thesis statement Do NOT write in bullet points Do NOT write in sentence fragments Do NOT write in sentence fragments Do NOT just name drop Do NOT say “I believe” or “they probably believed” Do NOT quote from nor parenthetically cite the excerpt(s) provided If you are surprised and excited by how obvious and easy the answer is, that probably means you are not giving enough detail or depth.

Explain the impact of the agricultural revolution on women. Explain how the Agricultural revolution is responsible for deep class division.
